The diagnostic
A defined, time-boxed engagement to find the opening.
The natural first step for most companies, and scoped so both of us learn whether the fit is real before anything larger is discussed.
The method
Start with the customer. What are they actually trying to solve, and what have they accepted as normal that does not have to be? Then bring observation, competitive context and economics to bear until the leverage point others have overlooked is visible.
Define the differentiated position, business logic, value proposition and sequence of moves that can convert the opening into advantage.
Create the platform, process, partnership model, governance, capabilities and measures required to make the strategy repeatable.
Bring together internal teams, founders, investors, functional specialists and external partners; clarify ownership; remove friction; and maintain momentum through the difficult middle.
The customer
The distance between a decision and a result is where most good ideas are quietly lost.
Where it fits
You know what the business should become. The route from here to there has not revealed itself, and the people around you are executing rather than answering that question.
The assets are real and the market is there, but the current model has reached the edge of what it can produce. Doing more of it will not change the outcome.
A competitor has more capital, more scale, and more patience. Matching them is not a strategy. Understanding the situation more precisely than they have is.
The concept is sound and the enthusiasm is real. What is missing is someone who can connect insight, positioning, economics, people, partnerships, systems and delivery into something that launches.
The people
I involve the right people early, create shared understanding, give ownership clarity, and build the operating conditions in which expertise can compound.
That includes coaching people as individuals. For me, building the business and building the people responsible for it are inseparable leadership responsibilities.
The engagements
A defined, time-boxed engagement to find the opening.
The natural first step for most companies, and scoped so both of us learn whether the fit is real before anything larger is discussed.
Naming, brand strategy, category definition and market entry.
How a business is understood is an asset, and one of the few a smaller player can build faster than a larger one.
Go-to-market strategy, channel and partnership development, sales infrastructure, pricing, and the mechanisms that make growth repeatable.
Retained work alongside a CEO or founder through execution — the difficult middle, with continuity rather than a handoff.
Board and advisory roles where the fit is right.
Before we begin
This is not the right fit for a business that wants a document.
If the goal is a strategy deck to circulate internally, there are firms that produce excellent ones.
It is also not the right fit where the decision has already been made and what is wanted is support for it.
I am most useful before the answer is settled.
The settings change. The pattern does not.
What is the opening others have accepted as invisible — and what must we build, together, to claim it?
